There are different ways to explore the museum :

- Standard admission (unguided) :

Entry is free of charge.

 

The Lens’ 14 - 18 exhibition centre aims to impart to everyone an understanding of the tragic events of the Great War. The exhibition is easy to navigate thanks to its clear and overarching content, provided in 4 languages (FR, GB, NL and DE).

- Audioguide hire :

The cost is 3 euros per person.

 

There are over 50 audioguides available from reception. Four languages are provided: French, English, German and Dutch. They contain the written content of the exhibition, with commentary on the previously unseen archive photographs and video and further information on specialist subjects. They also allow visitors to listen to the actual voices of soldiers reading poems and letters.

- The Artois battlefields : Lens' 14 - 18 and surroundings :

Personalised tour in a minivan 6 people, with your private english-speaking guide.

Learn about the Great War in the Artois region organized by the Lille Tourism and Conventions Bureau in association with the Lens tourist information.

 

The experience begins with the Lens' 14 - 18 War and Peace History Centre, which offers 650 m² of museum trails that present a poignant depiction of the horrors of the daily warfare and the scale of destruction in the area.

We then move on to discover Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, which is home to the largest First World War cemetery in France and the great Ring of Remembrance, an architectural oval that was inaugurated by the President of the French Republic in 2014 and movingly bears the names of 580,000 dead soldiers of all nationalities.

The tour comes to an end with a visit to Vimy, which houses an impressive monument to the sacrifice of Canadian troops in 1917 and offers a majestic view over Lens and its surroundings.

From April to October, every Friday from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. Departure and return in front of the Lille Tourist Office 

Or museum's starting visit from 1.45 pm then battlefield tour until 3:45 pm and back to Lens' 14-18 office.
